Nursery Schools

The Coronado Southern Baptist Church runs a child care center and preschool at its facility at 111 Orange Avenue for children ages 18 months to six years.  The hours are 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Coronado’s Award-Winning Public Schools

The City of Coronado is served by four public schools: two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school, plus two specialized schools, one for the arts and one designed for individualized learning. Coronado schools consistently receive awards for academic excellence in San Diego County and throughout the state.

Silver Strand Elementary is located half way between the Village of Coronado and the Coronado Cays, this excellent public school serves children ages preschool through the 5th grade. 1350 Leyte Road;

CoSA School of the Arts is an arts conservatory at Coronado High School offering instruction for students throughout the county (via application) for grades 9-12 in dance, film making, music and theater  visual arts, and more.  In addition to the high school curriculum, the school is dedicated to artistic creativity and academic excellence. Located at 650 D Avenue.

Palm Academy is an adjunct of Coronado High School and offers alternative education for high school students looking for a non-traditional educational approach.  The academy is located at 555 D Avenue.

Community Education & ROP (Regional Occupation Programs)

Adult education, senior classes, and a myriad of new career and job training courses are offered at the Coronado High School.

Instruction in many areas, such as dance, sailing and water safety, photography,  computer science, bookkeeping, languages, and so much, much more are offered in afternoon and evening classes for residents of Coronado and surrounding communities.  Classes are held at 650 “D” Avenue.
